24kV Silicone Rubber Suspension Insulator consists of five grey silicone rubber sheds, an 18mm-diameter fiberglass core rod, and Ball/ Y type end fittings. It is designed for medium-voltage overhead power transmission and distribution lines.

Main Features:

1. Rated Voltage & Mechanical Strength:  

 Rated System Voltage:24kV (typically used in distribution networks).  

 Mechanical Load Capacity:70kN (approx. 7,000 kgf), suitable for moderate mechanical stresses.  


2. Composite Design:

 Core:Fiberglass reinforced epoxy resin (high tensile strength, corrosion-resistant).  

 Weathersheds:Silicone rubber housing with five grey sheds (optimized for pollution resistance and hydrophobicity).  

 Shed Profile:5-shed design to enhance creepage distance and prevent flashover in wet or contaminated environments.  


3. Hardware (End Fittings):  

 Ball (Ball Head) & Y-Type Socket (Clevis) Connection:

 Ball Head (Male End):Standard spherical ball conforming to IEC 60120 or ANSI standards, typically attached to the tower cross-arm.  

 Y-Type Socket (Clevis, Female End): Fork-shaped clevis for connection to conductor fittings(e.g., suspension clamps or links).  

 Material: Hot-dip galvanized steel or forged alloy for corrosion resistance.  



Connection Scenarios:

1. Suspension Applications:  

 The ball end is fixed to a tower suspension eyelet (cross-arm), while the Y-clevis connects to the conductor’s suspension clamp or damper assembly.  

 Commonly used in distribution lines where flexibility in hardware alignment is required.  


2. Dead-End/Tension Applications:

 If bidirectional load-bearing is needed, two insulators may be paired (back-to-back) with Y-clevis ends linked via a thimble or shackle.  


3. Substation Use:  

 The ball-Y combo allows easy swiveling to accommodate thermal expansion/contraction of busbars or jumpers.

IEC 61109 / ANSI C29.11 (composite insulators).
