Introduction:

This is a 33kV Composite Suspension Insulator designed for high-performance application in overhead transmission and distribution lines. It features a robust grey housing with a nine-umbrella shed configuration arranged in a uniform design. Engineered to meet stringent electrical and mechanical requirements, this high voltage insulator is rated for a mechanical load of 70kN and offers an extensive creepage distance of 1100mm. Its advanced composite material and optimized shed profile make it an ideal solution for ensuring reliable power delivery in challenging environmental conditions, providing superior insulation and long-term durability compared to traditional insulator types.

Product Features:

Exceptional Electrical Insulation: The defining feature of this insulator is its 1100mm creepage distance. This long leakage path along the surface is critical for preventing flashovers by effectively suppressing leakage currents, making it exceptionally reliable in polluted and humid environments.

High Mechanical Strength: With a Specified Mechanical Load (SML) of 70kN, the composite insulator possesses significant mechanical robustness to withstand heavy conductor tensions, wind-induced oscillations, and ice loads, ensuring the structural integrity of the power line.

Optimized Shed Profile: The nine uniform umbrella sheds are designed to maximize pollution performance. This configuration effectively disrupts the path of water during precipitation, promotes self-cleaning during rain, and increases the surface resistance to the formation of a continuous conductive layer.

Advanced Composite Material:

Core: A high-strength Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) rod serves as the load-bearing core, offering excellent tensile strength and resistance to bending moments.

Housing and Sheds: The sheds are integrally molded from High-Temperature Vulcanized (HTV) Silicone Rubber. This material provides outstanding hydrophobicity (water repellency), which migrates to the surface to prevent water from forming a continuous film. It is also highly resistant to UV radiation, ozone, and thermal aging.

Lightweight and Vandal-Resistant: Silicone composite insulators are significantly lighter than porcelain or glass insulators of equivalent rating, simplifying logistics and installation. The polymer housing is highly impact-resistant, reducing breakage during transport and from vandalism.

Corrosion Resistance: The metal end fittings are typically made of hot-dip galvanized steel, providing excellent corrosion resistance for a long service life in various atmospheric conditions.


Production Process:

The manufacturing follows a precise, quality-controlled process:

Core Rod Fabrication: The process begins with a Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) rod, which is produced via pultrusion to achieve its high tensile strength. The rod's surface is treated to ensure perfect adhesion with the rubber housing.

Injection Molding: The FRP rod is placed into a custom mold cavity shaped for the nine-shed design. HTV Silicone Rubber is injected under high pressure and temperature. This single-step, integral molding process forms the complete grey housing and sheds, creating a seamless, waterproof bond with the core. This is critical for preventing moisture penetration to the core rod.

End Fitting Assembly: The metal end fittings (a socket at the top and a ball or eyelet at the bottom) are assembled onto the ends of the FRP rod. A high-pressure crimping or swaging technique is used to permanently and securely attach the fittings without damaging the FRP core.

Rigorous Quality Control and Testing: Each manufacturing batch is subject to stringent tests, including:

Mechanical Load Test: Samples are destructively tested to verify they exceed the 70kN rating.

Electrical Tests: Including power frequency withstand voltage tests and lightning impulse withstand tests to confirm the dielectric integrity for the 33kV rating.

Environmental Tests: Evaluations for hydrophobicity retention, tracking and erosion resistance, and salt fog performance are conducted to validate long-term reliability in harsh conditions.

This 33kV silicone suspension insulator is ideally suited for:

Overhead Transmission and Sub-transmission Lines: Primarily used to suspend and insulate conductors on 33kV overhead power lines, which are common in sub-transmission and distribution networks.

Heavily Polluted Areas: Its exceptional creepage distance and hydrophobic properties make it the preferred choice for coastal regions, industrial zones, and agricultural areas with high levels of dust or chemical pollutants.

Areas Prone to Vandalism or Accidental Impact: The high impact resistance of the composite material makes it suitable for lines running through areas where damage from thrown objects or gunshots is a concern.

Critical Infrastructure Support: Used in power lines supplying essential facilities like hospitals, water treatment plants, and data centers, where reliability and minimal maintenance are paramount.
