Introduction:

This is a 24kV Composite Suspension Insulator designed for robust performance in medium-voltage overhead power lines. It features a distinctive design with six grey, evenly spaced umbrella sheds. Engineered to meet stringent electrical and mechanical demands, it has a specified mechanical load capacity of 70kN and an extended creepage distance of 675mm. Product Features:

Optimized Electrical Performance: The 675mm creepage distance is a key feature, providing a long and efficient path over the insulator's surface to suppress leakage currents. This makes it highly resistant to flashovers, even in polluted, humid, or coastal areas.

High Mechanical Strength: With a Specified Mechanical Load (SML) of 70kN, the composite insulator is built to withstand significant mechanical stresses, including the weight of the conductors, ice loading, and strong winds, ensuring the structural integrity of the power line.

Excellent Shed Design: The six uniform umbrella sheds are optimally shaped to enhance pollution performance. During rain or fog, this design effectively disrupts water flow, promotes cleaning, and prevents the formation of a continuous conductive water film on the surface.

Advanced Composite Material:

Core: A high-strength Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) rod provides exceptional tensile strength and is resistant to bending.

Housing and Sheds: Made of High-Temperature Vulcanized (HTV) Silicone Rubber, which offers excellent hydrophobicity (water repellency). This property prevents moisture absorption and reduces the risk of surface tracking. The material is also highly resistant to UV radiation, ozone, and extreme temperature variations.

Lightweight and Durable: Composite insulators are significantly lighter than porcelain equivalents, simplifying transportation and installation. The silicone rubber housing is highly resistant to vandalism and impact damage, leading to a longer service life with lower maintenance costs.

Reliable End Fittings: The metal end fittings (typically hot-dip galvanized steel) are securely attached to the FRP core via a controlled crimping process, ensuring a permanent and high-strength connection.


Production Process:

The manufacturing of this silicone tension insulator follows a precise and quality-controlled process:

Core Rod Preparation: A Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) rod is manufactured, serving as the primary load-bearing member. Its surface is treated to ensure optimal adhesion with the rubber housing.

Injection Molding: The FRP rod is placed in a custom mold. HTV Silicone Rubber is injected under high pressure and temperature. This process simultaneously forms the grey, six-umbrella sheds and creates a seamless, watertight bond between the rubber housing and the core rod. This integral molding is crucial for preventing moisture ingress.

End Fitting Assembly: The metal end fittings (a clevis or socket at the top and a ball or tongue at the bottom) are assembled to the ends of the FRP rod. They are permanently attached using a high-pressure crimping or swaging technique, which cold-forms the metal around the rod without compromising its strength.

Rigorous Quality Control and Testing: Each production batch undergoes stringent checks. Samples are subjected to:

Mechanical Load Test: Verified to withstand loads significantly higher than the 70kN rating.

Electrical Tests: Including power frequency withstand voltage and impulse voltage tests to confirm dielectric strength.

Environmental Aging Tests: Assessing the retention of hydrophobicity and resistance to tracking and erosion under simulated severe conditions.
