Key Features:

Excellent Pollution Performance: The distinctive design featuring an alternating sequence of 10 large and small sheds is crucial. This configuration significantly increases the product's creepage distance (900mm), creating a longer path along the surface that electrical leakage currents must travel. The alternating shed sizes prevent moisture and contaminants from forming a continuous conductive path, effectively enhancing performance in polluted, coastal, or humid environments.

Superior Hydrophobicity: Manufactured from High-Temperature Vulcanized Silicone Rubber (HTV SR), the insulator's housing possesses inherent water-repellent (hydrophobic) properties. This means water beads up on the surface instead of spreading out into a continuous film, which greatly reduces the risk of leakage currents and flashovers, even in wet conditions.

High Mechanical Strength: Rated for a 10kN (approximately 1 metric ton) mechanical load, this insulator is designed to withstand significant mechanical stresses, including conductor weight, wind pressure, and ice loads.

Lightweight and Durable: Compared to traditional porcelain or glass insulators, composite insulators are significantly lighter, easing transportation and installation. The composite core is resistant to impact and vandalism, eliminating the risk of shattering.

Corrosion Resistance: The composite materials and sealed construction provide excellent resistance to corrosion from salt spray, industrial pollutants, and UV radiation, ensuring a long service life.


Structure & Construction:

This composite insulator is a integrated unit typically composed of three main parts:

Core: The internal load-bearing component is a Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) rod. This rod provides the high tensile and compressive strength (10kN rating) and is also an excellent electrical insulator.

Weathersheds (Housing): The external grey sheds are made of Silicone Rubber. This housing protects the FRP core from environmental and electrical erosion. The specific design with 10 large and small sheds maximizes the creepage distance and provides self-cleaning properties as rain washes dirt from the alternating sheds.

End Fittings: The insulator is equipped with metal end fittings for connection.

Top: A metallic cap for attaching the overhead conductor.

Bottom: An M20 threaded metal stud for securely mounting the insulator onto the cross-arm of the utility pole. The interface between the metal end fittings and the rubber housing is critically sealed to prevent moisture ingress, which is essential for long-term reliability.

Production Process:

The manufacturing of this pin insulator involves a sophisticated process to ensure integrity and performance:

Core Preparation: The FRP rod is cut to length, and its surface is treated to ensure optimal adhesion with the rubber housing.

Molding of Housing: The silicone rubber housing is typically manufactured using Injection Molding or Transfer Molding. In this process, unvulcanized silicone rubber is injected under high pressure into a mold that has the precise shape of the sheds. The FRP rod, with end fittings pre-assembled, is placed inside the mold.

Vulcanization: The mold is heated, causing the silicone rubber to vulcanize (cure). This process chemically cross-links the rubber, creating a durable, elastic, and permanent bond between the housing, the FRP core, and the end fittings.

Quality Control: Each unit undergoes rigorous testing, including visual inspections, dimensional checks, and sample tests for mechanical load (10kN proof test) and electrical performance (e.g., steep-front impulse withstand test).


Application Scenarios:

This 33kV pin insulator is ideally used in:

Medium-Voltage Distribution Networks (11kV, 33kV): For supporting primary distribution lines on wooden, concrete, or steel poles.
